FOR THIS AND MANY OTHER GREAT RARE RADIO SHOWS YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE, KEITH'S KOLLECTABLES.
AND, HOW DO YOU DEFINE RARENESS??
THERE WERE NO MORE THAN 175 LPS OR CDS PRESSED FOR EACH SHOW (SHOWS PRIOR TO 1990 WERE USUALLY ON LP; SHOWS UP TO AROUND 2000 WERE PRESSED ON CD; AND SHOWS UP TO AROUND 2010 WERE PRESSED ON CDR. SHOWS AFTER AROUND 2010 WERE DISTRIBUTED TO AFFILIATE STATIONS BY DIGITAL DOWNLOAD AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO COLLECTORS. PRESSED FOR EACH WEEKLY SHOW. THE 175 NUMBER REPRESENTED THE TOP 175 RADIO MARKETS IN THE COUNTRY AND ONLY ONE STATION IN EACH MARKET COULD AIR THE SHOW.
STATIONS IN MARKETS BELOW THE TOP 175 (THERE ARE 306 MARKETS IN THE UNITED STATES) HAD TO TAKE THE SATELLITE FEED OF THE SHOW FROM THE MUTUAL RADIO NETWORKS,THE SYNDICATOR OF THE SERIES)
AND, DUE TO CONTRACTUAL LEGAL OBLIGATIONS, EACH RADIO STATION WAS ALLOWED TO AIR EACH SHOW EXACTLY ONCE AND NO MORE.
SO, MOST RADIO STATIONS JUST DESTROYED THEM AFTER AIRING SINCE THEY WERE USELESS TO THE STATION AFTER AIRING. THERE IS NO TELLING HOW MANY OF EACH SHOW SURVIVED. WHO KNOWS - THIS COULD BE THE ONLY ONE.

MUTUAL BROADCASTING SYSTEM'S DICK CLARK'S NATIONAL MUSIC SURVEY was a first class show from the packaging to the beauty of the lp's, to the cue sheets, to the content of the shows themselves with quality production always.
Every show had special featured artists and feature years, and there were several mini themes spread throughout the show along with rare and exclusive artist interviews.
This show was absolutely unbelievable and now you can own one or more for yourself. It came as pictured with three beautifully decorated LP's in an album in excellent condition and cue sheets printed on heavy bond paper and not just cheaply reproduced as many radio shows were (if they even came with cue sheets)
The National Music Survey was distributed by The Mutual Broadcasting System. Until 1985 Dick Clark was the host but when his contract with them expired he went to his own United Stations label and began Dick Clark's Countdown America series.
These shows are very rare if for no other reason than it was hosted by Dick Clark. Of course all radio shows are very rare but this one belongs in a special place in your collection of unique radio shows.
This show aired on October 9, 1982, and was show #72, one of the early shows in the popular series
(The early shows in this series came in only one version but because there were radio stations that played what was called middle of the road music and others that played what was called adult contemporary or hot adult contemporary, a second version was developed.)
The hits are counted down from 30 to one along with special stories, features and interviews throughout the three hours. It is a unique show and belongs in your special collection as it has been in mine all these years.
It actually is pretty cool enjoying the commercials from what we grew up with. They too will bring back memories.
This week's national commercials included Maxwell House, Hubba Bubba Gum, J.C.Penny , Activision Video Games, AC Delco, Leaf Candy, and more.
This show is the total package!
SHOW CONTENTS CAN BE SEEN ON THE PICTURED CUE SHEETS
These shows are priced a little higher , but none of the other shows give you as much. And when you come down to it, find a rare quality show like this anywhere else for less!
This is the original show sent for airing. It is NOT an unauthorized copy but the Real McCoy!!! I personally guarantee that every radio show that I sell is the original show sent to stations. Each show comes from my personal collection of thousands of radio shows of every genre.
SO HERE ARE THE BIG QUESTIONS IF YOU DO NOT KNOW MUCH ABOUT RADIO SHOWS:
WHAT IS A RADIO SHOW?
WHY COLLECT THEM?
WHERE DO THEY COME FROM?
Well, those are good questions, especially if you have never known of them.
Radio Shows are syndicated productions by one of several large and small distributors who supply broadcast product to radio stations normally during weekends when the usual air personalities have a break.
Radio shows came in two variations although the first I will tell you about was the most common
One variation was sent to radio stations on what was called a 'barter system'. In the barter system, radio stations, only one in each major population 'market', received the show. It was provided free of charge to the radio station because it was paid for by the national advertisers whose adds were included in each break between segments.
In the second variation, radio stations bought the rights to air the show. There were no national commercials included with the show. Radio stations recouped their investment by selling advertising on the show.
Most aired on Saturday or Sunday mornings, afternoons or evenings or less often weekdays or during overnight segments. They often features some of the best known voices for their genre from across the country thus the Dick Clark's, Bob Kingsley's, Scott Shannon's and Casey Kasem's and Rick Dees and Dick Bartley and so many others.
People collect them for various reasons.
Some just collect the series because they like it and want them all. Some collect their favorite artists or genre of music. Rather than a downloaded album by the artist, they have a unique presentation of their favorite artist or music not available anywhere else and always with dj presentations which were very entertaining.
Some collect interviews with their favorite artists as most shows had interview segments.
Radio shows were first distributed on reel to reel tape or on lp, later on CD and even later (after 2000 for most shows) on CDR.
Now they are not available at all to collectors since they are distributed by digital download much like you get your own music.
These shows become rarer and rarer every day because the people who buy them hold on to them.
I have prided myself since the start to provide the best and fairest cost with a no holds barred guarantee that you will be happy or I refund your money.
I sell them for near what I bought them for. I give volume discounts and discount postage always. As the postal service increases their rates, my shipping rates over the years has decreased.
And, I have one of the biggest radio show libraries in the world consisting of over fifteen thousand show, so many that I don't even know all that I have and am sometimes amazed when I go to look for one show and find another that I did not realize I had.
Finally, it is Americana at its best. Whether the show be from the 60's or 2000's, rock, countdown, oldies, country, classical, religious, jazz or big band, it is unique and home grown.
And you just can't find them anywhere.
Even record stores that still exist will rarely have any. Radio shows are wonderful representations of the real golden age of radio at least music wise.
And every one you buy is an original, not a copy, not a remake - all are limited editions in the hundreds at most and most much less. Once you get hooked, like me, it is a love affair for life! Welcome to the Club!
Remember that this and all the radio music shows that you see on eBay are not just about the music - the music can be found anywhere. It is the mixture of great music and great announcing that makes it so entertaining.
As well, it is a piece of radio and music history. You just aren't going to find these shows around very much longer as everything is now digitized and downloaded for play and shows are no longer sent out on CD's. Think of what they will be worth in a few years! (IF you wanted to sell.) I am selling to share with other music lovers what I was able to get at a reasonable price. It is a great show and would be a valuable addition to your collection.
As always, for U.S. buyers, I charge only shipping on the first show you buy so the more you buy the more money you will save.
For my international friends, shipping is through the Ebay International Shipping Program which guarantees your show's safe transit and delivery
Good Luck and may God richly bless you always and forever.
