The BEATLES
PLEASE PLEASE ME 5th PRESS UK LP
RARE DECCA PRESSING
(Professionally cleaned)
147g

This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker,  New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.

Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

These RARE DECCA pressings were only released for a short period as Parlophone were swamped with orders at the end of 1963, so they asked DECCA to take on some of the load in their pressing plants.
These copies-ESPECIALLY DECCA COPIES OF PLEASE PLEASE ME- are getting increasingly hard to find.
They were made at roughly a ratio of 10:1

Catalogue number: Parlophone PMC1202

As with ORIGINAL DECCA pressings-there's no letter stamped into the run-off groove.

Vinyl:
VG(+).
I have just given the vinyl a professional clean with a Pro-Ject VCS MkII Vacuum Record Cleaner.
I have just listened to her all the way through WITHOUT JUMPS OR SKIPS.
Nice, heavy vinyl.
Still has it's sheen. There are light marks visible...However, she plays all the way through without any skips/jumps.
Lovely rich audio reproduction.
Beatles in all their original ORIGINAL and RAW glory.
FLAT, HEAVY AND SHINY-ORIGINAL!

Labels:
VG.
There is only a very small amount of central hole wear as seen in the pictures. Just light spindle marks, visible when angled towards the light. Other than that the labels stand out nice and clean.
LOVELY PRONOUNCED DEEP DECCA GROOVE
Outer rim text starts with "The Parlophone Co.Ltd" "Recording First Published 1963" stated under the printed matrix number, showing this to be the 5th pressing.
Very displayable.

Inner:
EX.
Original "Use Emitex" inner, with the tracing paper lining....FANTASTIC condition...just a tiny amount of pen marks to one side.
She is all original and has done it's job keeping the record in fab condition!
NO SPLITS

Cover:
VG.
It is a genuine Garrod & Lofthouse cover with the Angus McBean in the lower right corner on the front. There is some wear to the sleeve: The opening has some wrinkling to the laminate and carries a couple of small splits and light feathering.
The Spine is still very STRONG and clear.
Knocks to the front bottom right and top bottom right corners.
IT IS FAR FROM TRASHED-STILL SOLID.

LARGE MONO
