Here's the ultimate vinyl lucky dip: 19 boxes of albums, singles, record box sets and CD box sets.
Of these, 16 boxes contain roughly 100 albums each, ranging from the utterly embarrassing to the potentially fabulous, while the remaining three boxes contain a mix of vinyl and CDs.
Condition, quality and collectability is unknown - I simply do not have the time, energy or expertise to sort through them, catalogue them and then sell them individually.
This vinyl was owned by a late family friend who grew up in England at the time of The Beatles and saw them play at The Cavern, although I only noted the one Beatles album in this collection. He received many records including promos from a North Coast NSW radio station and later from deceased estates.
As you would expect the condition looks a little variable, and from what I've seen, my musical taste is somewhat different. But each to his own and this is the fun part of buying a collection like this - the possibility of finding a diamond in the rough.
The main photo shows a small selection of what is contained in here, from artists that I actually recognise. All genres seem to be covered, from pop to rock to classical to musicals to country and just about everything in between. There are some 50s albums, a lot of 60s and 70s and fewer 80s and beyond.
I've started the bidding at the impossibly low level of $50. If you are, for example, a record dealer, then I'm sure you could get at least a dollar for each record, so there's a potential instant profit.
All I ask is that whoever is lucky enough to win this collection takes the whole lot with them - I'm not interested in anyone who wants to crate dig. I just want the back end of my garage free of these boxes.
This means that the winner will need to organise transport from my home in Canberra to wherever they live. So it's pick up only, or you may choose to organise a courier yourself - everything is packed up and with some tape across the top will be ready to go.
