The Colored Major Banjo Solo  

Description
This auction is for 1901 Victor Monarch 78rpm record titled 'The Colored Major', Banjo Solo played by Vess L. Ossmann, #3362.

This is a very early and difficult-to-find record, manufactured by Eldridge R. Johnson, just prior to the formation of the Victor Talking Machine Company.  It is recorded only on one side, the back side being totally blank with no label.

The lively banjo tune is enjoyable and sounds good although the record surface shows light wear and has probably been played many times.
