Miss Jessie Oliver (a white singer) is famous for her recordings 1894 with the Negro Standard quartet
She is famous as the first singer in an interracial performance:
The black vocal group the Standard Quartette were formed in Chicago in 1890 and comprised Ed DeMoss (tenor vocal), H.C. Williams (vocal), William Cottrell (vocal) and Rufus L. Scott (bass vocal).
In February 1894, while South Before the War was being performed in Washington D.C., the Standard Quartette recorded six titles backing their fellow cast member Miss Jessie Oliver, a white soprano singer. As pointed out by Tim Brooks in his marvellous book Lost Sounds - Blacks and the Birth of the Recording Industry 1890-1919 [2004], these recordings are the first known interracial recordings. Sadly, for such a recording landmark, none of these cylinders survive.
Having first recorded at two sessions for the New York Phonograph Company in August 1891, and again on 24 July 1893, none of which recordings survive, in the fall of 1893 the Quartette joined the touring show South Before the War, which became immensely popular, the show travelling through the eastern United States.
