Condition:

EXCELLENT MINUS, a clean and quiet record. Scuffs, rare faintest scratches. Duo has a 1 mm tiny nick at the end. As tu has 2x 2mm scratches, cause 4 clicks. A great copy !!

Landouzy, Lise, Sopran, * 1861 Le Cateau bei Cambrai, å 1943 Aix-les-Bains; eigentlich Elise Besville. Sie trat zuerst im Casino von Blankenberghe ÷ffentlich auf. 1889 deb?tierte sie an der Op?ra-Comique Paris als Rosina im ?Barbier von Sevilla½. Seitdem hatte sie an diesem Opernhaus gro?e Erfolge; sie sang hier 1894 in der franz÷sischen Erstauff?hrung von Verdis ?Falstaff½ in Anwesenheit des Komponisten die Partie der Nannetta. Am 20.2.1901 sang sie in der Urauff?hrung der Oper ?La fille de Tabarin½ von Gabriel Piern? an der Op?ra-Comique die Rolle der Clorinde; bereits am 30.5.1890 wirkte sie dort in der Urauff?hrung von Messagers ?La Basoche½ mit. Seit 1895 gastierte sie regelm??ig am Th??tre de la Monnaie Br?ssel; sie trat auch an den Opern von Monte Carlo, Nizza und in Aix-les-Bains als Gast auf. Sie lebte nach Beendigung ihrer B?hnenkarriere als P?dagogin in Paris. - Hervorragend durchgebildete, technisch perfekt beherrschte Stimme, deren Repertoire von der Koloraturpartie bis in das lyrische Fach reichte.

[Nachtrag] Landouzy, Lise; sie wurde am Konservatorium von Lille ausgebildet und war 1887-89 am Th??tre de la Monnaie Br?ssel engagiert (Deb?t 1887 als Rosina im ?Barbier von Sevilla½). 1889-95 war sie an der Op?ra-Comique Paris t?tig, dann w?hrend der Spielzeit 1895-96 in Br?ssel und seitdem wieder an der Op?ra-Comique, doch gastierte sie bis 1905 oft am Opernhaus von Br?ssel; 1904 sang sie an der Oper von Monte Carlo die vier Frauenrollen in ?Hoffmanns Erz?hlungen½. In Ihrem Repertoire fanden sich Partien wie die Mireille von Gounod, die Philine in ?Mignon½ von A. Thomas, die Leila in ?P?cheurs de perles½ von Bizet, die Manon von Massenet, die Ang?le in ?Le Domino noir½ von Auber, die Lakm? von Delibes, die Micaela in ?Carmen½, die Marie in ?La Fille du R?giment½ von Donizetti, die Gretel in ?H?nsel und Gretel½, die Norina im ?Don Pasquale½, die Javotte in ?Le Roi l'a dit½ von Delibes und die Rosenn in ?Le Roi d'Ys½ von Lalo.

Vieuille, Félix, Baß, * 15.10.1872 Saugéon, † 28.2.1953 Saugéon; ausgebildet am Conservatoire National de Paris bei den Pädagogen Achard und Giraudet. Er sang bereits 1897 in Aix-les-Bains den Leporello im »Don Giovanni«. Er debütierte 1898 an der Opéra-Comique von Paris und ist fast 50 Jahre lang als erster Bassist an diesem großen Theater aufgetreten. Unübersehbar ist die Zahl der Uraufführungen und Premieren, in denen er an der Opéra-Comique mitgewirkt hat: am 2.2.1900 sang er in der Uraufführung von Charpentiers »Louise« eine kleine Rolle, am 30.4.1902 den Arkel in der Uraufführung von Debussys »Pelléas et Mélisande«, am 16.3.1904 in der Uraufführung der Oper »La fille de Roland« von Rabaud, am 3.3.1905 in »L'Enfant Roi« von A. Bruneau, am 26.12.1905 in »Les Pêcheurs de Saint-Jean« von Ch. M. Widor, am 6.5.1906 in Henri Févriers »Le Roi aveugle«. Am 10.5.1907 kreierte er an der Opéra-Comique in der Uraufführung der Oper »Ariane et Barbe-Bleue« von Dukas die Titelpartie, 1907 sang er dort in der Uraufführung der Oper »Circé«, einem Werk der Brüder Paul und Théodore Hillomacher, am 30.10.1909 in »Chiquito« von Jean Nouguès, am 30.11.1910 in der Uraufführung von »Macbeth« von Ernest Bloch den Macduff, am 15.12.1911 in »Bérénice« von A. Magnard, am 7.2.1912 in der Uraufführung von Silvio Lazzaris »La Lépreuse«, am 29.10.1912 in »La Danseuse de Pompéi« von Jean Nouguès, am 20.3.1913 in »Le Carilloneur« von Xavier Leroux. Am 10.5.1914 sang er, stets an der Opéra-Comique, in der Uraufführung der komischen Oper »Marouf« von Henri Rabaud den Sultan, am 19.5.1920 in »Lorenzaccio« von Ernest Moret, am 7.12.1921 in »Dans l'ombre de la Cathédrale« von Georges Hüe, am 16.12.1927 in der Uraufführung von »Le pauvre matelot« von Darius Milhaud, am 24.4.1929 in der von Charles Lavadés »Le Peau de Chagrin« und noch am 19.3.1930 in »Le Sicilien« von Omer Letorey. In der denkwürdigen Premiere der Oper »Snegourotchka« von Rimsky-Korssakow 1908 wirkte er an der Opéra-Comique als König Frost mit. 1923 sang er bei der Jahrhundertfeier für Édouard Lalo in einer Gala-Aufführung von dessen Oper »Le roi d'Ys«. In der Saison 1908-09 war er am Manhattan Opera House in New York engagiert, setzte dann aber noch bis 1940 seine Karriere an der Pariser Opéra-Comique fort. In den letzten Jahren trat er nur noch als Arkel in »Pelléas et Mélisande« auf, u.a. 1917 auch am Stadttheater von Zürich. - Sein Neffe Jean Vieuille (1902-67) hatte eine bedeutende Karriere als Bariton.

Vieuille, Jean, Bariton, * 1902 Paris, † 6.4.1967 St. Georges de Didonne (Departement Charente-Maritime); er war ein Neffe des berühmten Bassisten Félix Vieuille (1872-1953). Er studierte bei seinem Onkel und am Conservatoire National de Paris. 1926 fand sein Debüt am Théâtre Trianon Lyrique in Paris statt. Es folgte eine Saison am Opernhaus von Straßburg. 1928 kam er an die Opéra-Comique Paris, der er bis 1958 angehörte. Hier hatte er als Ourrias in »Mireille« von Gounod, als Graf in »Figaros Hochzeit«, als Marcel in »La Bohème«, als Albert im »Werther« von Massenet, als Ramiro in »L'Heure espagnole« von Ravel wie als Sharpless in »Madame Butterfly« große Erfolge. Er wirkte in zahlreichen Uraufführungen und Premieren an der Opéra-Comique mit, u.a. 1930 in der Uraufführung der Oper »Le Sicilien« von Omer Letorey (in der auch sein Onkel auftrat), 1935 in der Uraufführung der Oper »Gargantua« von A. Mariotte, 1942 in der von »Ginevra« von M. Delannoy, 1949 in »Guignol« von André Bloch, 1951 in »Marion« von P. Wissmer, 1952 in der Uraufführung der Oper »Dolorès« von M.M. Lévy. Er bewältigte ein Rollenrepertoire von seltenem Umfang. Seit 1950 trat er auch an der Grand Opéra Paris auf. Neben seinen Gastspielen an französischen Provinztheatern ist er kaum im Ausland aufgetreten. Zuletzt wirkte er als Pädagoge in Paris.

Schallplatten: Aufnahmen auf Parlophon; dann viele HMV-Platten; sang auf dieser Marke in der LP-Ära u.a. in den vollständigen Opern »L'Heure espagnole« von Ravel, »Manon« von Massenet und »Les mamelles de Tirésias« von Poulenc.

Quick note on grading:

The Grade (Excellent to Fair, I don't give Mint) refers to the WEAR of the record. Any other defects are stated separately, when prefaced with "HOWEVER" or "BUT" they will be significant.

When I listen to a record, I may also give it an aural grade (again E to F), and make a SUBJECTIVE judgment of the pressing quality for hiss and surface noise.
"SUPERQUIET" is basically noiseless, like a vinyl pressing.
"VERY QUIET" is an exceptionally quiet record for a given pressing.
"Quiet" is a record that is a great example without undue noise for a give pressing.

These judgments are SUBJECTIVE and will depend one the styli, phonograph etc. you use on your own equipment.
