Description
Rare 1920s set of 4 picture disks in booklet with sleeves. Illustrated by Clara M. Burd, a popular artist of the era. Disks come in a booklet with sleeves. Four disks total, each with recordings and illustrations on both sides. I believe these were published by the New Record Corporation in Brooklyn, NY as they were found with some other ones that were nearly identical in their format.
In my research, I've discovered that the package these came in was issued in the 1920s with six disks and two booklets. The sleeves held three disks and a booklet which had the words to the rhymes for each set. I believe there was also a larger book that the two sleeves fit into.
This listing is for four of these records and one of the sleeves. I do not have the booklets or the book.
Records measure about 5 7/8" in diameter. Discs are made of heavy paper with image adhered and covered with a clear plastic (?) surface where the recording was etched.
I've listed these recordings in fair condition as each record has defects. These could probably still be played, however they are probably more valuable for Burd's artwork and probably wouldn't be worth the risk of damaging the images. Burd is perhaps best known for her illustrations in Louisa Mae Alcott books Little Women (1926), Jo's Boys (1928), Little Men (1928), An Old Fashioned Girl (1928), and Eight Cousins (1931).
All of the records seem to have "bubbles" under the plastic surface in various degrees from hardly noticable to very noticable. Please take a good look at the photos. (I will be happy to send anyone interested additional photos as Ebay only allows me a certain number.)
Each record is labeled as follows: Pictoral Record, the number of the recording and the title of the recording, and Patent Pending. The artist autograph is discretely hidden in the illustration.
The records and their condition are as follows:
Disk 1
Side A - 10,005-A Little Boy Blue
Side B - 10,005-B King of Sixpence
Record is warped into slight bowl shape about 1/8", maybe less. Spots on the side have absorbed moisture and expanded. Side A has significant bubbling throughout the whole side. Side B is missing a spot a few grooves wide by about 1/2". Very minor bubbling in the recording section with more signifcant bubbling on the inner section.

Disk 2
Side A - 10,004-A Old Mother Goose
Side B - 10,004-B Ding Dong Bell
Side A shows wear along the upper side. Significant bubbling throughout the entire side. Missing a small 1/4" x 1/8" section along the outer edge on the lower right side. Side B nearly no bubbling on the recoding section but significant bubbling on the inner section. Missing several groves along the outer right side for about 1/3 of the disk.
Disk 3
Side A - 10,006-A Old Mother Hubbard
Side B - 10,006-B Hey Diddle Diddle
Disk is warped into bowl shape about 1/8" or less. Side A show very little bubbling with most on the inner section. Recording seems to be completely intact. Side B shows very little bubbling anywhere on the record but is mising intermediate groves long the bottom left side.
Disk 4
Side A - 10,003-A Tom Tom the Piper's Sun
Side B - 10,003-B Mary Had a Little Lamb
Side A shows minor bubbling with most of it on the inner section. The recoding section appears to be missing several small spots, the largest being about 1/16" in diameter. Side B shows minor bubbling on the right side but the recording seems to be completely intact.
The booklet is in good condition. Some creases, a folded corner and a 2 1/3" tear on the outside from the top on the third sleeve. The spine has a bit of a roll to it as well.
