Description

This is a genuine, antique Victrola 78 rmp record in a period paper sleeve.  The vintage recording from 1928 is a Victor orthophonic Recording and features Ted Weems and his orchestra preforming "Flower of Love" (aka Flor de Amor) on side A and Nat Shilkret and the Victor Orchestra singing "Lonesome in the Moonlight" on side b.  The label notes both songs are Fox Trots.  The 10" 78 is shellac, Victor #21643, is in an early Victor paper sleeve.  I inherited this gramophone record more than 35 years ago from the original owner.  It was never played by my family so I don't have any idea if or how well the record might play now although it seems to be in great shape for its age.  As we inherited many Victor records from the same individual, I don't know if the sleeves were ever switched with another record.   The record is sold as is.
The label notes that "Flower of Love" is the theme Song of the Motion Picture, "White Shadows in the South Seas" which, amusingly enough, is a Silent film released in 1928.  It is known for being the first MGM film to be released with a pre-recorded soundtrack and also the first time Leo the Lion roars in the introduction. The film stared Monte Blue and Rachel Torres.  This record is a neat gift idea, not only for collectors of early music but for early movie buffs.
