Description
This record on Victor, also simultaneously released on Gramophone in the U.K., is from Vladimir Horowitz’s FIRST U.S. recording session in March of 1928. These are Original PIANO SOLO recordings by the great Horowitz presenting Claude Debussy's "Serenade A La Poupee" (Serenade For The Doll) from his Children’s Corner Suite recorded in the first take and then Domenico Scarletti's "Capriccio” recorded from the third take on VICTOR 1353 in EXCELLENT+ Condition ... this beautiful record appears rarely played and with great gloss --- please see photos -- Original sleeve too!
Considered to be one of Debussy's best compositions and it is certainly one of his most difficult to perform on piano; it is a beautiful example of what the master composer did to change the musical landscape forever. Horowitz went on to record this piece several times and with each a new interpretation—this is recorded upon his successful first tour in the United States when he was about 25 years old.
