In 1930, the Bolero was recorded no less than 4 Times !!! (Coppola, Ravel, Mengelberg, Koussevitzky).
It is one of the ironies of recording history, that the first recording was made by the gifted HMV in-house conductor Piero Coppola on Jan 8 1930 under the supervision of Ravel, who had him redo the finale because of a slight acceleration in the beat. Ravel, who was more gifted of a pianist than a conductor, waxed his own version for Polydor with the Lamoureux Orchestra on Jan 9 1930
