The rare and Elusive San Francisco/ Hollywood Mac Gregor Label.

Here in one of the rare records of first leading Black Movie Actor Clarence Muse (song writer, singer)

in a MUSICAL LIBRARY Transcription No 1137 for Radio Use

Although Muse appeared in over 150 films, and has several dozen song writing credits for hit records, he apparently only recorded two records for Mac Gregor and one record for the obscure post-war Kangaroo label.

His voice is a deep velvety bass very similar to Paul Robeson w piano Accompaniment

Clarence Muse (October 14, 1889 – October 13, 1979) was an American actor, screenwriter, director, singer, and composer. He was the first African American to appear in a starring role in a film, 1929's Hearts in Dixie. He acted for 50 years, and appeared in more than 150 films. He was inducted into the Black Filmmakers Hall of Fame in 1973.
