This is the original 1940 Bluebird release featuring popular big band leader Tony Pastor and His Orchestra.

History of the Item Tony Pastor (born Anthony Pestritto) was a saxophonist and one of the most entertaining big band leaders of the late 1930s and 1940s. After playing with Artie Shaw and forming his own orchestra, he scored hits with his lively swing style and novelty vocals. This Bluebird coupling pairs Cole Porter’s classic “Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall In Love)” with the upbeat jump tune “Ready, Get Set, Jump.” Released in 1940, it captures the high-energy dance music that filled ballrooms and jukeboxes just before the U.S. entered World War II. Bluebird was RCA Victor’s popular budget label, and these heavy shellac 78s were staples for swing fans. Original Bluebird pressings from this era are collectible among big band enthusiasts, Cole Porter fans, and 78 RPM collectors.
Condition
- Record (both sides): VG+ – glossy black shellac with strong shine and clean grooves. Plays smoothly with excellent tone and only very light surface noise typical of an 84-year-old 78. No skips, no major scratches.
- Labels: Clean original Bluebird labels, fully legible with the small orange “6” sticker intact.
- Fully playable and ready to enjoy — a nice, solid example of this 1940 coupling.
