Item Condition:
Shellac Records: Excellent condition. Exceptionally clean grooves with no hairline cracks or deep scratches. Disc 1 & 2 have minor chips to the dead wax at the beginning, but not on any of the grooves.
Plays beautifully, which is incredibly rare for brittle 1940s shellac pressings.
Outer Portfolio Box: Complete presentation with age-appropriate edge wear.
The iconic cover artwork by legendary photographer Adolphe Sylvain is in pretty good condition. Please see photos closely as they will form part of the description.

Up for sale is an incredibly scarce, high-grade piece of Pacific ethnomusicology history. This 1949 portfolio features authentic field recordings captured across the Tuamotu, Marquesas, Austral, and Society Islands.
Disques Mareva was only active for a short window, making this complete, clean archive set a prized addition for serious vintage world music, field recording, and exotic art collectors
