The performances on this LP span a period of a decade, beginning in 1950 with "By and By" featuring the great R.H. Harris. Then we go through the fabulous Sam Cooke era, with four unforgettable selections. Finally we come to another fine singer, Johnnie Taylor, who (like Sam) later turned to pop music. Throughout the entire album we hear the superb second lead of Paul Foster. (One of the Soul Stirrers' greatest innovations was their use of two alternating lead singers, to produce a thrilling crescendo.) - Barret Hansen"
