Description
For your consideration, a collection of 12-inch acetate records of a live jazz performance of Bobby Hackett, a great horn player, and his group. The show was recorded at The Music Box in Boston's Copley Square Hotel, on April 5, 1951. It was a nice little show and has some great music. The show is recorded on four records at 33 rpm. This auction also includes one record dubbed with 78rpm versions of the Black and Blue and When Your Lover Has Gone performances from the show, and two records of music and talk from the same time period made by the guy who recorded the show, who was one of the radio DJs. As an added bonus, I will include a CD with mp3s I made from the show records, and some image files I scanned related to The Music Box.
The records are all in great condition and very playable. All include sleeves. The show itself has the following songs:
1. Chinatown
2. Black and Blue
3. Alexander's Ragtime Band
4. When Your Lover Has Gone
5. Sweet Georgia Brown (partial)
6. Struttin' with Some Barbeque
7. Basin Street Blues
8. Panama
9. That's a Plenty
10. You Use Ta'
11. Monday Date
12. Why Shouldn't I
13. Bye and Bye
14. You Made Me Love You
These records came from a long-time Boston area music aficionado by the name of George St. Andre. He was a local TV and radio station engineer and sometimes DJ (he's one of the DJs on the radio records).
