Description

******************  THELONIOUS MONK "PLAYS" LP - On Prestige PRLP 189.  Original FIRST PRESS 1954 Mono 10" LP, DEEP GROOVE with the classic Burgundy & Silver labels and the 446 W. 50th ST., NYC address on both clean labels.  Flat edge with RVG engraved in the dead wax of both sides.  Thick vinyl, thick carboard cover.  The personnel:  Thelonious Monk/piano; Percy Heath/bass; Art Blakey/drums.  The vinyl is in superb NM condition (beautiful sheen)!  Hard to find a disc this clean - this old!!  There is a very tiny pressing bump on side A that sounds faintly for just a few spins.  The cover is excellent and displays wonderfully.  NO significant seam splits, NO cut-out marks of any kind.  The songs are:  Work; Nutty; Blue Monk; Just A Gigolo.
