Description
This is for an original 1957 78 RPM recording on Chess records of Chuck Berry playing Rock and Roll Music w/ Blue Feeling on the B side. The song is from a May 1957 session recorded in Chicago Illinois and produced by Leonard and Phil Chess. Backing Chuck during the session would be legendary sidemen Lafayette Leake on piano, Willie Dixon on bass, and Fred Below on drums. For music aficionados, the Willie Dixon playing bass is the same Willie Dixon who wrote over 500 songs including “Little Red Rooster”, “I Just Want to Make Love to You” and “Spoonful” which are still played by artists today. The song would be released as a single in September of 1957 and would reach number 8 on Billboards top 100 before the end of the year, along with being number 128 on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fames list of 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll. Both the Beatles and Beach Boys would record the song with the Beatles version reaching the top of the charts in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Australia in 1964 and the Beach Boys version reaching number 5 in the US in 1976. The record is in outstanding condition for a 78. All of the 78’s I sell are shipped sandwiched between two different layers of corrugated cardboard, wrapped two ways in bubble wrap and then shipped in a USPS Priority mail box to make sure they arrive undamaged. A great record from the grandaddy of Rock and Roll.
