Description
Tulsa, OK Perspective Sound 45rpm "Jo-Baby" b/w "Lovin' At Night" by the Accents, a local band featuring David Gates (guitar, vocals), Don Kimmel (drums), Gerald Goodwin (stand-up bass), and Russell Bridges, ne "Leon Russell", (piano). "Jo-Baby", written and sung by a high school senior (Gates) in hopes of winning the affections of a junior cheerleader (he did..they eventually married and raised a family), charted nationally, and caused a lot of excitement in the Tulsa youth ("Lovin' At Night" seemed to be the most popular side) in December,1957 (I know...I was there!). This copy was obtained from Sonny Gray (owner of Perspective Sound) from the studio's files in 2007 while I was writing my book: "Oklahoma Guide to 45rpm Records and Bands." Consequently, the record has probably never been played (I know I haven't since I have a "play-copy"), and I doubt Sonny ever played it as well, I'm calling its condition "NM" as I never use "M," but there are no scratches, rubs, writing, stains, stickers, or other distractions...it's like-new.
