Description

A REALLY EXCELLENT COPY OF THIS RARE 1958 UK RELEASE FROM JIMMY LLOYD from the film "6:5 SPECIAL" ON A PHILIPS 78

EVER SINCE I MET LUCY

b/w  THE PRINCE OF PLAYERS

6:5 SPECIAL is described by the BFI site as a Pop music variety film with a slender plot to link the musical numbers together. Two young women, Judy and Ann, catch the six-five special train from Glasgow bound for London, with the intention of making a singing career for the latter of the two upon arrival. Once on the train they find that it is full of singing stars travelling down to London to appear on the TV show 'Six-Five Special'. They also meet actor Finlay Currie who tries to dissuade Ann from going into the business. Also on the train are the show's presenters, Pete Murray and Jo Douglas, for whom Ann auditions. Impressed with her voice, she is offered a spot on the show in the chorus. After watching a number of acts, Ann's big moment arrives as a supporting singer for Dickie Valentine. As the show moves into its finalé, Jo Douglas informs Ann that she has made enough of an impression to be offered a solo spot on the show the following week.

The artists, and the songs they perform (where relevant), appear in the film in the following order:

Reel 1; Diane Todd, 'You are my Favourite Dream' Jim Dale, 'Sugar Time' (heard on the soundtrack only) and 'The Train Kept A-Rolling' The Ken-Tones, 'The Gypsy in my Soul'

Reel 2: Desmond Lane, 'Midgets' Mike & Bernie Winters, comedy sketch Johhny Dankworth, 'Train Gang' Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Laine, 'What Am I Going to Tell Them To-Night?' Victor Soverall, 'Say Goodbye Now' Jimmy Lloyd, 'Ever Since I Met Lucy'

Reel 3: Petula Clark, 'Baby Lover' Finlay Currie Diane Todd, 'It's a Wonderful Thing to be Loved' Joan Regan, 'I'll Close My Eyes' Don Lang (aka Don Lang and his Frantic Five), 'Boy Meets Girl'

Reel 4: Russ Hamilton, 'I Had a Dream' John Barry Seven, 'You've Gotta Way' and 'Every Which Way' Jackie Dennis, 'La Dee Dah' Paddy Stone and Leigh Madison, 'Ice Blue' dance routine The King Bros., 'Hand Me Down My Walking Cane' and 'Six-Five Jive'

Reel 5: Dickie Valentine, 'The King of Dixieland' and 'Come To My Arms' (the latter being the number in which Diane Todd also appears) Lonnie Donegan, 'Grand Coolie Dam' and 'Jack O' Diamonds'

THIS ONE SUPRISINGLY DIDN'T MAKE THE CHARTS AND IS VERY HARD TO FIND
