Description
Original 1961 AFRTS Station Library transcription featuring Tedd Smith performing sacred hymns on piano, Hammond organ, and celesta. These early AFRTS micro‑groove discs were produced in small quantities for military chapels, hospital wards, and base broadcasting, and were never sold commercially. This example includes medley arrangements of classic hymns such as “Amazing Grace,” “Blessed Assurance,” “Onward Christian Soldiers,” and “Whispering Hope,” performed in a warm, reverent instrumental style. A clean, well‑preserved copy of a scarce early‑1960s AFRTS religious transcription.

VG+ record / VG sleeve. Both sides retain strong gloss with minimal cosmetic wear including light hairlines, dot scuffs, and a few wider scuffs that appear gloss‑deep. A faint iridescent hue may indicate minor residue or a manufacturing artifact; nothing appears to affect play. Playback revealed faint, consistent surface noise typical of AFRTS micro‑groove discs, with a more noticeable but still moderate audible defect on Side 1 Track 5 that plays through cleanly. Labels are clean with matching “343” notation and no ridge wear. Sleeve shows minor tears at the opening, faint ring wear, and light wrinkles but remains structurally sound.
