1961 Deep grooved Atlantic Philly Jo Jones Beat Paul Chambers Walter Davies NM 1st anywhere in Europe issue on earliest Crimson and Silver deep grooved London Atlantic (a legendary UK Decca Jazz subsidiary label) of the Jo Jones Quintet on Philly Jones Beat. Very lovely hard Bop to Modal session with sax and cornet front line and a formidable rhythm section. Bill Baron is a rarity on any album, so great to have him on Sax here, with another lesser heard name, Michael Downs on Cornet. This was Miles Favourite drummer, with Walter Davies and Paul Chambers also favourites of Miles and or Coltrane at one time or another. Lovely album. Near mint record in an excellent sleeve, plays near mint. Our ethos is to offer you best sounding analogue only pressings of vintage records. Here is another beauty of that type.
