Description

This is our first sale from a top of the market collection, comprising of just early stereo rarities on Decca HMV, UK Columbia & RCA. First labels issues in Near Mint condition to 99% of them, all described in detail with plenty of pictures. Includes many items rarely seen on ebay.

1st issue 1964 UK HMV mono DAN 143/144/145 The Callas Carmen (with Pretre, at Paris, alongside Gedda). Luxury Padded Box Issue on 3 lp's, produced in a limited run, a standard 1st year SAN also exists, the D in DAN is for Deluxe). Rarest of all issues of this, the label variant is still gold labels and a white angel, but the nipper is in red to match the padded red vinyl box, which also has gilt lettering. There are three booklets to this, one on the opera, one on the original novel, and one on the interpretive quality of this recording, and its history. They sit in their own folder in the lid, so it looks good open or closed. Even the inner sleeves are of a unique gold starred grey lined design. Very handsome in your hands, and the records are all in exceptional condition, with no marks of any nature to all six sides and labels. The inners and books are also very clean, with a couple of page bends and a rear cover bend only. Box is intact and all vinyl coating is in place, although its age has meant some glue has dried and could do with a careful regluing to look at its best. The spine vinyl has some wear but is complete. A lovely rare set.

Near Mint Lp's, with clean labels, Excellent minus box .

 Includes the 3 original booklets.

This is visually near mint, no marks to the playing surfaces, has clean labels with no spindle marks, and the sleeve is Excellent, as seen in pics, no pen or excess dirt, no splits or bends, rear has age darkening. Includes company picture inner.
