Rare original 1964 VEE JAY first pressing of the very limited edition LP from 45 years ago by the sensational Beatles ~ Songs Pictures & Stories, a sure collectible from the glory days of the British Ivasion's Beatlemania!
Originally, Vee-Jay considered releasing the British version of the Beatles first album, Please Please Me exactly as it appeared in England. But in keeping with the American norm of a 12-song album, Vee-Jay chose instead to delete "Please Please Me" and "Ask Me Why " and change the album's title to Introducing... The Beatles.
The tremendous success of the Beatles in 1964 led to repackagings of their material by Vee Jay Records that had taken a chance on them early on when Capitol, their nominal American label, initially passed on its option in 1963. While it still controlled American rights to the Beatles' first American album, "Meet The Beatles" Vee Jay released a different abridgement under the title Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles. (which was close to the British first album, "Please Please Me"). This was the same version they had released as "Introducing" and again only 11 days earlier from the "Songs, Pictures..." Lp as one-half of the 2LP set "The Beatles Vs. The Four Seasons".
Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles (Vee-Jay VJLP(S)-1092), features a three-quarters gatefold cover. The record inside the cover wasn't even released containing the new name; it still stated Introducing the Beatles on the label.
Songs, Pictures and Stories was released either in late July 1964 or 12 October 1964, with the latter the more likely date, because it entered the Billboard album chart on 31 October. It eventually peaked at #63.

Though Vee-Jay could not manufacture or distribute any Beatles product after 15 October 1964, it took a long time for the records to vanish from retail stores. The Beatles and Songs, Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles remained on the Billboard LP chart until 9 January 1965

CONDITION: The three quaters gatefold cover is VG+(+) solid with no distracting problems, only a little slight shelf wear (not bad at all and no seam splits) and very small faint words inside the gatefold in blank space near top (very very small)...otherwise pretty solid and definitely collectible.
The vinyl is all glossy clean, M-
