Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP $4.00 Media; 2-4 discs $5.00; .50 each additional disc Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   CANADA ~ 1 LP 8.50; 2 discs $10.00; 3 discs $11.50; over 4 please contact us for shipping costs.   AUSTRALIA, THAILAND, JAPAN ~ 1 LP $18.00; 2 discs $23.00; 3 discs $27.00; 4 discs $32.00. BEAUTIFUL MINTY CLEAN 1965 ORIG *** STILL IN FACTORY CELLOPHANE WRAPPER

Original 1965 MONAURAL VINYL first pressing ... the rare mono release features different song mixes from the stereo version and a tip from the one(s) who know(s) lay the claim that the mono release is the ONLY way to go for this album ... It certainly has the bif beat production punch only found on vintage monaural sixties releases.

Sonny and Cher had released a handful of previous singles, under both their own names and the pseudonyms Caesar and Cleo, but this is their full length debut album, a curious mix of folk-rock jangle and Spector-influenced infectious poprock. Bono worked under Spector as a go-fer, session musician and staff songwriter, and his admiration for the producer's patented Wall of Sound verges on slavish imitation in spots. It's clearly felt on "Let It Be Me" and a note-for-note cover of the Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me." It's the folk-rock material, like the enormous hit "I Got You Babe," the sweet "Five Hundred Miles," and a terrific version of the Beau Brummels' "Don't Talk To Strangers," that's the most interesting.

Four years before their hippie trappings were co-opted and sanitized by Madison Ave. Sonny & Cher were the stuff of rebellion: real teen rebellion against uptight teachers, twistin' grandmas, hopelessly Donna Reed parents, the entire gamut of squares. Theirs was a quantum leap in the history of teen insolence, overnight transforming a hitherto dark, greasy, James-Dean-dangerous rebellion into a long-haired, bell-bottom, bobcat-vest luv-fest rebellion, with its own musical accompaniment. Sonny & Cher were postwar-America's first rebels without switchblades. Their near-cuddly outrageousness was irresistible. In an era of smashed traditions and questioned authority, Sonny & Cher showed their anti-establishment audience how two people could be married, even married and singing silly love songs to one another, and still be the epitome of cool.

This Lp was the most exciting the pair released. The lp is packed with heart-felt duets. It is a vital hip folk rock sound of the emerging happening teen scene of the sixties. "Look at Us" has genuine sensititvity, and Sonny Bono is at his best, both writing, singing?, and his Spector-homage production. The haunting "Unchained Melody", and the folkie 500 miles are fresh and heart-felt. "Just You " is still a rhapsody for teenagers. The anthem "I Got You Babe" has surely lasted and become an American piece of pop history.
