Description
Great week for Beatles from me! A new one added most days, giving them all a thorough checking before listing. December 1965 withdrawn loud cut, a low plays earliest issue anywhere. The matrix numbers are XEX 579-1 & XEX 580-1. The Cat. No is PMC 1267 on the Original 1st Press Yellow & Black Parlophone label. The printers date code is 12 to the bottom flip, meaning a December printed sleeve, so not a mix of best sleeve and best lp, a genuine matching lp and sleeve for that short window of the first month issue. I notice a near mint one went for £1200 recently, and this is excellent to excellent minus visually no feelable marks, no pen or dirt, no bends to sleeve, vinyl is flat, in a fully excellent sleeve with a strong excellent playback, incomparable sound really. See the playing surface lustre in the high res pics. Labels have none of that tell tale white wear around the centre, they are fully excellent. Playback to all of side one, whilst I am listening critically is fully near mint with just a little background surface to the last track of side one, where all records are weakest (inner groove distortion), no evidence of groovewear from a cheap dansette type player or nans radiogram. Side 2 again starts really clearly, with cutting guitar from George throughout. I noticed loads of detail in this listen that I may have overlooked from inferior pressings previously. The presence and immediacy to this is superb, I freely admit to being obsessed with the sound of records, and this is top shelf stuff. The flips, seams and spine are all undamaged. As the second side draws to a close I can faithfully report that, on my high end system with an ortofon mono cart heard through a valve phono stage in to a passive pre then via twin monoblocs, I got near mint playback. This has the "Important -Take good care original Parlophone tissue lined inner, and the record is now in an antistatic inner within that, all of it snug in a new poly outer awaiting packing in a custom made hard card box with added protection.
