Check out the rare jazz already added to our store from my 46 years of collecting, more coming all this week! 1966 ALBERT AYLER SPIRITS UK ED1 Transatlantic TRA 130. Henry Grimes, Norman Taylor & Sonny Murray Join Ayler for this landmark of free form Spiritual Jazz. Uk Critics would have hated and slated this, it took a remarkable free spirit to go in to a record shop to order it back then, and very few would have done. The only issue of this before it is on 1964 Danish Debut, and can change hands for £900. The French issue is from 1972, and the earliest US issue is from 1975. Transatlantic is a very respectable label, and I use the Pentangle debut lp on it as an example of best possible sound from a normal issue of anything from any time, it really is astonishing, so this is a great version of this valve mono masterpiece, in VG+ condition, in a VG+ sleeve. No splits or pen to sleeve or labels, no wear to the spindle hole. Record is not warped or off centre. I have listened again to this to say goodbye to it, and the two marks to side 2 I was most worried about are mainly lost under the high energy drumming of Sonny Murray, then with clicks to the opening of the 2nd track, because the drumming is quieter. Not to the point of ruining the listen though. Cheaper than all the copies on discogs at time of writing, a better grade than the last one on here. Large Richard Williams newspaper article from nearly 20 years back about Ayler included. Our ethos is to offer you best sounding analogue only pressings of vintage records. This is already in a new heavy poly outer with antistatic inners added with outer sleeve and records all layered behind each other to prevent splits.
