Description
The cover of this hard to find LP has some general wear including a little staining down the right edge, but is still in pretty good shape; the vinyl has some scuffs and light scratches, but still looks to be in quite respectable shape! There is no inner sleeve.
From the internets: "The Nomads with the Creations - "The Atlantic Coast Show" in mono, LPA 1002. I originally thought this might be a various artists album but it is not. It is really a Nomads album and they are backed by The Creations who were primarily an instrumental garage band with one lead singer, Donald Parker who sings lead on one song on this album, Mr. Pitiful, backed by the Nomads on that number. The Nomads are the vocalists on all the other songs (except the one instrumental); of the 12 songs, 5 are originals. Originals Merry Go Round, She's So Wonderful, I Do Prefer and their remake of Greetings (This is Uncle Sam) are soul/do wop ballads, the latter three are real tear jerkers with some spoken parts. Of the 12 songs, only The Creations on Jazz (Variations on 2120 S. Michigan Ave. by the Stones) is an instrumental. Most of their cover songs are excellent, especially My Girl, Stubborn Kind of Fellow and Working in a Coal Mine. The Nomads were James Simmons, James Branch, Lindsey Parker, Ronnel Davis and Alfonso Dudley; The Creations were Donald Parker, Michael Parker, J.K. Loftin, Bobby Aiken and Leslie Smith. This album was recorded at Arthur Smith Studios after the two groups had practiced together for 5 weeks. In parts it is raw, that adds to the charm of this ultimate soul rarity. These were high school kids, not seasoned professionals, collaborating on a album and the only instance I can think of where a white garage band joined forces with a black soul/do wop group to make a album."
