1966: The Beatles: Yesterday Rare E.P. *Excellent* Original. TNR Font
The Beatles’ 11th EP was released as Parlophone GEP 8948 in mono only, and the cover photograph was taken by Robert Whitaker. Unusually for 1966, each Beatle took lead vocals on a song. It contained four songs from the Help! album: Yesterday, Act Naturally, You Like Me Too Much and It’s Only Love.
One of the 2 hardest to find Beatles' E.P.'s (along with "Nowhere Man"), this example is in a very collectable EXCELLENT condition.
Vinyl: The record maintains much of it's original gloss, with only a couple of light play marks to the surface. No stubborn fingermarks, warpage or other damage. I have tried to capture the surface quality in my pictures above. Photograph 5 above will give you an idea of the high quality of this vinyl. A pleasingly clean and respectable copy. 8.5/10
Labels: The labels remain vivid and unfaded - Times New Roman font is used. GRAMOPHONE CO rims. There are no rips, rubs, excessive spindle marks or pen marks etc. The "Sold in UK" legend is present across the spindle hole indicating a true first pressing. KT Tax code stamped to Side "A". Overall 9/10
Audio: Crisp trebles and resonant bass, unmuddied vocals that cleanly cut through the mix, very little background noise. I would guess the vinyl has probably been played about 15-20 times and stored away carefully. 9/10.
Sleeve: The iconic laminated "6603 V" original front-laminated sleeve is in clean and complete condition. Light laminate bubbling to the lower right front, along with some creasing to the lower opening (rear) - the only testaments to its 48 year history. Colours are strong and vibrant to front, rear has some age-greying. Lettering is crisp and legible. No pen-marks, names or other undesirables. A strong overall 7/10.
Overall: I would personally grade this as a strong 8/10. One of the best copies I personally have seen... those I have seen are usually played to death, have covers baring pen-marks, torn, bent, or in some cases completely missing.
The record has been stored outside the sleeve in a generic white sleeve, with a cardboard stiffener diving the record away from the sleeve. This has then been sealed in a quality UPVC wallet and stored out of sunlight.
