PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. VERY RARE ... PRIVATE PRESS Original 1967 first pressing by the G-CLEFTS who had a long running history, releasing some 45's (a couple were hits) but managed only this local private album, and it's surprisingly good, surprisingly solid...a mix of northern soul/raw garage ...for those who may know of the top flight primitive grooves on the ZEBERA SELECTION Lp, you'll find similar enjoyable grooves here with the G-CLEFTS, from 1967:::
In 1967, they recorded a live album: The G-Clefs On Stage. Recorded at the Beach Ball, in Revere, Massachusetts, it was pressed on their own Spotlite label. The lineup comprised of the four Scott brothers (Teddy, Chris, Timmy, and Arnold), along with their next-door neighbor Ray Gibson.' I Understand' by the G-Clefs went to number 9 in the U.S. and number 17 in the U.K., where it was released on the London imprint.
The also had a hit with 'A Girl Has To Know', which reached number 81 in the early '60s but there was a break in time where it seemed the G-Clefts had vanished:::
This was mainly due to their propensity for street crime, each of the group taking turns in prison for assaults on policemen. The Scott's gang, "The Band of Angels", ruled in what was known to the police as "Scotty's Alley" with the warning "pass at your own risk", but the gang of "bad boys"...Older and wiser, they managed to get the group back together again. "I Understand" had been a # 6 pop hit for the Four Tunes, but the G-Clefs gave it their own stamp by singing a second melody in the background. The record went to # 9 in the US and # 17 in the ...Though this was their biggest hit, it almost ruined them. The group sounded white and had trouble getting work because of that.
The G-Clefs recorded this live album in 1967, "The G-Clefs On Stage", which they released on their own Spotlite label. The spring of 1968 found them on their first European tour supporting the album which had no distribution thus remaining to this day a long lost treasure.

CONDITION: The cover: Very fragile, copies are nowhere, here a "decent" VG+ having a light contact rub, nothing bad and certainly collection worthy when copies virtually don't exist 48 years later ... no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: Clean and glossy over both sides, rated: VG++ to most all M- expect very enjoyable audio with NO distracting surface problems ... both SPOTLITE labels are clean
