1967 Pablo Neruda Chilean Poet poken Word LP (Reading His Poetry in Spanish)
Pablo Neruda – “Reading His Poetry (in Spanish)” (Caedmon TC 1215). This 1967 release features Chilean poet and Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda reading selections from his works. Neruda (nee Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto) was bornm in 1904 and died in 1973 (presumably murdered under the orders of General Pinochet). During his lifetime, Neruda occupied many diplomatic positions and served a term as a Senator for the Chilean Communist Party. Years later, Neruda was a close advisor to Chile's socialist President Salvador Allende. Neruda won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1971. Tracks include: “Los Alturas de Macchu Picchu” ; “Arte Poética” ; “Sólo la muerte” ; “Oda a los Calcetines” ; “Fábula de la Sirena y los Borrachos” ; and “Testamento de Otoño.” Stereo.
