Description
Here is a beautiful original copy of The Beatles SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND (1967 CAPITOL, MAS-2653, MONO) in wonderful, clean condition. First USA pressing with the original black "CAPITOL" label w/ rainbow boarder in monaural. Comes totally complete with the original cutout "badge" sheet and the original red “cloud” sleeve. Both of these rare inserts are in mint condition. This record has been a treasured part of my personal collection for at least the last 20 years, played once at the most (by me) and always safely stored in a plastic outer sleeve in an upright position. After a brief description, I will conservatively grade the album based on Goldmine standards.
This record has been very well kept over the years and it shows. The vinyl has much of the original sheen remaining. It has light surface marks including some very light scratches & light scuffs which add only a little extra surface noise to the play but it tracks extremely well and sounds great with no skips (I checked it on my Technics SL-5100 turntable with a SURE M111HE cartridge). The label is clean and bright and the spindle hole shows virtually no wear.
The cover is clean and crisp with only light wear/ storage marks (I took pictures of it in two kinds of light so you could get a good look at it). The name of the previous owner appears on the top boarder of the back cover and on the rainbow part of Side One of the vinyl. The only real issue with the cover I could find is a small, 1” tear on the inside seam of the gatefold cover (look for it on Paul’s right shoulder on the inside portrait). This could possibly be repaired as it is only a small tear and the piece is still attached. As mentioned before, the original color cutout insert with badges and such is there and in clean, crisp mint condition – no issues with it whatsoever. Also, the original red “cloud” inner sleeve is there and it is also in mint condition. I’ve never seen a copy of this record with the inserts looking this perfect!
According to the Goldmine Record Grading System, I would grade this amazing album at:VINYL: VG+
COVER: VG+
