Excellent Condition Original 1968 Pressing with the Two Columbia Eyes and 360 Sound in MFSL Anti-Static Sleeve
Big Brother & the Holding Company "Cheap Thrills" Stereo LP Album
Provenance:
An original 1968 pressing of Big Brother & The Holding Company's Cheap Thrills is identified by the Columbia Records red "360 Sound" labels (✔), a gatefold cover featuring R. Crumb's art (✔), and specific runout matrix numbers (featuring either a "T" for Terre Haute, "S" for Santa Maria(✔), or "P" for Pitman). The jacket was printed in the U.S.A. and features the iconic comic-style artwork(V).
Label: Look for the red Columbia "360 Sound" label with white "STEREO" lettering and "360 Sound" in black or white(✔).
Cover: The cover is a gatefold design (✔). Early, rare versions may have had the title "Sex, Dope and Cheap Thrills" planned, but this was changed to Cheap Thrills before release.
Runout Matrix: The dead wax area (runout) contains machine-stamped or etched matrix numbers, often with a "T", "S"(✔), or "P" indicating the pressing plant.
Catalog Numbers: The U.S. stereo release is usually Catalog # KCS 9700(✔).
Cover Credits: The back cover should include the © Thomas Weir 1967 photo credit (✔).
Spine: The spine will show "KCS 9700" (✔) and "COLUMBIA" (✔).
