Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us. Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. TOP COPY
Highly rated LP ....Original first pressing as contains Mike Brown--the intensely talented songwriter for the Left Banke who penned most of their songs--and yes, he DID have a post-Left Banke career.
Montage was the ONLY album issued by the New Jersey group, who wisely decided to partner with the otherwise-not-actually-in-the-group, main members of the LEFT BANKE, Michel Brown and Tom Feher for songs and production; although Brown writes most of the songs, plays keyboards, and does a whole host of other things, he was apparently not technically in the band. Odd. Yet he and his other Left Banke cohort (Tom Feher cowrites some of the material) obviously hadn't lost any of their talent, and some fans advise that Montage blows even the Left Banke's heralded "Walk Away Renee" album out of the water. The songs are *that good*. The performances are understated and emphasize "feel" more than rocking out. That's *just the way these songs should be*. Both of Montage's singers have wonderful, expressive, yet vulnerable voices.
- Exactly suited to the material.
It's really that good, folks. Highlights include The Grand Pianist. an earthier take on the Banke's Desiree, the stunning opener I Shall Call Her Mary...and, well, there's not a bad track on either side...If you're a fan of the Banke, Zombies, the Beach Boys in their "Today!/Pet Sounds" mode, or 60s music in general, you are almost guaranteed to love this.

And the "FAN-MAN" adds: - Most well known for Michael Brown's involvement (producer, writer of 8 of the 10 tracks). The album has much in common with Brown's former band, The Left Banke.
Like Left Banke, it's filled with creative arrangements, baroque pop with beautiful instrumentation, harmonies and melodies. "I Shall Call Her Mary" is light, airy and pretty catchy. "She's Alone" sounds as it's title suggests. Beautifully orchestrated, it's vibe reminds of the Beatles "For No One". One of the favorites from the album. "Grand Pianist" is a bit jaunty with some wonderful, complex harmony vocals. "Men Building Sand" doesn't live up to the first two tracks. It feels a bit by numbers and the flat notes at the end of the choruses are bothersome (though, according to Flashback Magazine V1, 2012, those flat notes were intentional). "Desiree" the wonderful LEFT BANKE song is still gorgeous, different arrangement that works. "The Song Is Love" evokes the old TV show, Love American Style for some reason. Audibly, it's a great track to define sunshine pop by. Though it's a really short track, we love it. "Tinsel and Ivy" is a ballad with a cool piano part and some nice strings. "An Audience With Miss Prisilla Gray" is a jaunty, slightly vaudevillian track. "My Love" has the jaunt of Prisilla, but with a cool harpsichord riff and some very tasteful strings and backing, it's a winner. "Wake Up Jimmy" closes the album. A track that has a few tempo changes combined with some falsetto notes, great playing and those gorgeous backing vocals.
It's a fun album when in the mood. If you dig baroque pop, The Left Banke, etc then you'll like to love this LP as well.
