100% guaranteed 1970 first pressing of Juicy Lucy's 2nd album, a hard bluesrock burner with lots of feel, in the great tradition of those UK blooz-boom rockers coming out of the traditional phase...

Saucy blues-rockers Juicy Lucy formed in 1969 from the ashes of cult-favorite garage band the Misunderstood, reuniting vocalist Ray Owen, steel guitarist Glenn "Ross" Campbell and keyboardist Chris Mercer; with the additions of guitarist Neil Hubbard, bassist Keith Ellis and drummer Pete Dobson, the group immediately notched a UK Top 20 hit with their reading of the Bo Diddley perennial "Who Do You Love," with their self-titled debut LP falling just shy of the Top 40. Ex-Zoot Money singer Paul Williams, guitarist Mick Moody and drummer Rod Coombes replaced Owen (who exited for a solo career), Hubbard and Dobson for 1970's Lie Back and Enjoy It, with bassist Jim Leverton assuming Ellis' duties for the follow-up, 1971's Get a Whiff a This. The constant turnover clearly took its toll on the group both creatively and commercially, with co-founders Campbell and Mercer both exiting prior to the fourth Juicy Lucy album, 1972's Pieces, which was recorded by a makeshift lineup of Williams, Moody, keyboardist Jean Roussel and the former Blodwyn Pig rhythm section of bassist Andy Pyle and drummer Ron Berg. Juicy Lucy finally disbanded shortly thereafter.

Glen "Ross" Campbell: steel gtr
Ray Owen: voc
Chris Mercer: sax
Neil Hubbard: gtr
Keith Ellis: bass
Pete Dobson: drums

Lie Back & Enjoy It follows the same pattern as their great first album, as the group churns out heavy blooze-boogie, with as much conviction. A surprisingly excellent jammer with as-good-as-it-gets sound quality. Bass, drums and guitar are all extremely strong. Its surprising this band wasn't more successful - the album only made UK 53.  Mississippi Woman, Whiskey In The Jar and Willie the Pimp are the hot tracks here.  Interesting to compare the fat-rock British sound here to the trebly weedy sound you got from many of the US group albums at the time. For hardcore fans, or bluesrock/underground early 70's collectors, it doesn't get much better. Highlight, among others, in a solid album, as noted above, the gritty and gruff ripper "Willie The Pimp" gives the Zappa/Beefheart tune a run for its money!

CONDITION: The cover is top stiff and collectible clean "EX" (excellent) it is really hard to find ta better cover more clean than this as the dark color did not wear well, besides having a very small delete mark at far right side and very light bump at corner that should not cause a problem, the colors are still bright, there are no split seams, no writing and it's a fine collection keeper ...The

vinyl is all glossy "EX" (excellent)  play graded smooth and clean... fun to listen to album, in the right zone... this is a top levels copy...
