PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. The popular blues rocker is hard to find in clean condition and arguably of their two best albums, the Detroit area hard rock crew is known for their gritty bluesy guitar driven sound and had a major hit in 1970 with their powerful reworks (ala heavy) in 'House Of The Rising Sun' which had been a smash hit by The Animals in the early sixties.
Hailing from Detroit, the original line up came together in 1967 and consisted of bassist Tom Beaudry, singer Kelly Green, drummer Rich Stevers and lead guitarist Gary Thompson. The band spent two years on the Michigan club scene before attracting the attention of London Records which in 1969 signed the quartet to it's Parrot subsidiary. The group started off by releasing a series of three singles:
- - 1969's 'Tell Me Why' b/w 'Cryin' Shame'
- - 1969's Drivin' Blues' b/w 'God Gave Me To You'
- 1969's 'House of the Rising Son' b/w 'Drivin' Blues'
The group enjoyed a surprise major hit with their third release which was a heavy rock adaptation of 'House of the Rising Son'. That generated enough attention for Parrot Records to finance an album. 1970's "Frijid Pink" compiled the three previous singles with new original material. The album reflected a mix of then popular blues and hard rock. A solid two sides delivers such winners as 'I'm On My Way', 'Drivin' Blues' and 'Boozin'' where comparisons to early Ten Years After or Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown (who actually get a name check on 'Drivin' Blues') will put you in the right head-space. Their heavy blues rocker leanings are on displayed via Thompson's fuzz guitar propelled tracks like 'Crying Shame' and 'Tell Me Why'. Elsewhere, another standout track goes to the opening ballad 'God Gave Me You'. The overall result is an album filled with cooking tough bluesy rockers ...
