Description
Up for sale is a rare piece of broadcasting history: the NBC Background Music Library Demo on a white label promotional pressing. This isn't just a record; it's a preserved artifact from the peak of the analog era.
The Provenance: This copy includes its original, heavy-duty cardboard mailing sleeve. The sleeve features a historical twelve-cent New York postage meter strip dated May 11, 1971.
Authentic NBC Branding: A fragment of the original address label remains, clearly showing the return address for the "[Nat]ional Broadcasting Comp[any]" at "Rockefeller Plaza" in the 10020 zip code. This provides undeniable proof that this specific disc was dispatched directly from NBC’s legendary Manhattan studios.
The Vinyl: This is a classic "White Label" demo, often favored by collectors for being among the first pressed from fresh stampers, typically offering superior sound quality compared to later retail runs.
Condition:
Vinyl: Very Good Plus (VG+). The record shows minor signs of use, such as light scuffs or hairline scratches that do not affect the listening experience, it remains a solid, playable historical document.
Record Sleeve: The record sleeve is in Good (G) conditions with two partially split open edges. “Good” is written in pen on one side.
Mailing Sleeve: The mailing sleeve is aged and shows wear consistent with its 50+ year history, but the critical postal and address markings remain legible. “Good” is written in pen on the back side. On both sides “phonograph records / keep away from excessive heat / do not drop or crush” is written in red.
