Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. SCARCE first 1971 presss (original olive green Warners) ... the first Little Feat which is said to be different from their other Lp's, a good heady dose of the style that became "EXILE On Main Street" a year later...

LITTLE FEAT were formed by two former members of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention: songwriter and guitarist Lowell George, who also provided vocals and slide guitar and Roy Estrada on bass guitar. They were joined by drummer Richie Hayward and Bill Payne on keyboards and vocals. The name of the band came from a comment made by Mothers' drummer Jimmy Carl Black about the diminutive size of Lowell's pedal extremities. 

There are two legends about the genesis of Little Feat. One has it that George showed Frank Zappa his song Willin, and that Zappa fired him from The Mothers, because he felt that George was too talented to merely be a member of his band, and told him he ought to go away and form his own. The second version says that Zappa fired him because Willin contains drug references ("weed, whites and wine"). Ironically, when Willin was recorded for the first, eponymous Little Feat album, George had hurt his hand, and could not play the slide part on the song: Ry Cooder was drafted in to play this part. This was one reason why Willin' was re-recorded and included on the lineup for their second album Sailin' Shoes. Sailin' Shoes was also the first Little Feat album to include cover art by Neon Park, who had painted the cover for Zappa's Weasels Ripped My Flesh.  

SO...drop any preconceived notions you may have about this band and check-out this first Little Feat record. It’s a unique sound in their discography. A bluesy, roots rocker masterpiece with the loose feel of he Stones "Exile on Main Street" with all around good presence.

Some gems: as mentioned you can't go wrong with the beautiful, stripped-down Willin’, the song Zappa supposedly fired Lowell George over (because it championed “weed, whites, and wine”). This song would be re-recorded by a later incarnation of Little Feat and become one of their most loved songs. Another highlight is the ripping Howlin’ Wolf tribute medley in Forty-Four Blues / How Many More Years. The album is great for a first listen because it just fills up the room with rock, but it is truly better as you delve in and listen more.  The extraordinary blend of southern American music (country, blues ), alongside with good rockin' is nothin g short of amazing.  Lowell George voice sounds like a link between Mick Jagger and Van Morrison, with Dr.John’s groove.  It sounds like the Stones listened carefully to Little Feat’s first two LP,s when recording Exile On Main Street. Where Exile lacks some tempo and maybe some spontaneous feel, Little Feat’s first LP sounds as naturally as it can be, totally free, relaxed and inspired. This is a great underrated album, a twin brother to "Exile On Main St. "

CONDITION: The cover: rated: VG++ just a touch of lite shelf wear on front (very little at all), the back is "EX" (excellent), overall  remains with a collectible appearance, 45 years old, has no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing  ... VERY collection worthy rarity ...
