Description

Original AFRTS transcription LP RL‑4‑3, pairing Aldemaro Romero’s Onda Nueva material with Trini Lopez’s Viva. Produced exclusively for U.S. service members and distributed to bases worldwide, AFRTS discs were never sold commercially. Collectors prize these for their scarcity and unusual pairings - here showcasing Romero’s Venezuelan “Onda Nueva” fusion of joropo and jazz alongside Lopez’s Spanish‑language pop interpretations of contemporary hits.
Photo Note: The circular “ring” visible in some images is only a reflection from the ring light used during photography. It is not present on the record or sleeve itself. Records are photographed under this lighting to highlight gloss, label clarity, and surface details as clearly as possible.

VG+ record / VG sleeve. Both sides retain strong gloss with only faint scuffs and hairlines. Playback is clean overall, with very light surface noise noted in sleeve scuff areas, most of which is believed to be equipment‑related. A faint scratch on Side 1 was barely audible and expected to disappear on higher‑end equipment. Labels show matching “338” markings, minor scuffs, and light discoloration but remain legible. The generic AFRTS sleeve is VG with matching “338” markings, faint fading, one small tear at the opening, and light ring wear; no seam splits. Playback may vary depending on equipment; sold as‑is.

Grading Note: AFRTS transcription discs are unique non‑commercial pressings, often showing quirks from their service use and occasional factory flaws. They frequently play best on higher‑end equipment. I grade conservatively and document anomalies such as label wear, sleeve markings, gloss wear, rubs, and playback notes so buyers know exactly what they’re getting. This approach avoids blanket condition claims and ensures accuracy, transparency, and trust in every listing.
