"A lot went down with the recording of every song in this album. A lot of emotion - the kind of feelings that go unsaid and usually unmentioned, the kind of stuff that goes on between a couple of proud cowboys who would rather fight than gush. The music is mostly Billie Joe Shaver's. The performance is definitely Waylon Jennings'. And Tompall Glaser...he was the compadre in the control room who put his knowledge and experience on the line as co-producer of several of the songs on this album. It aint easy being a cowboy in this day and time. But Waylon, Billy Joe and Tompall get it done. - Roger Schutt"
