IF THAT ISN’T LOVE 4. TO THINK OF THE CROSS 5. WHY NOT NOW? As a gospel radio announcer, there are several basic things I look for on the back of an album by a brand new singing group. They are obvious things like: Who are they, Where are they from, What do they sound like, and most im- portant in gospel music, What is their testimony? If I can find out these things, I am better able to feel something about the music I hear when I listen to it for the first time. So, let’s find out about the Righter Sisters........ WHO: The Righter Sisters Trio . . . Diana, Debby, and Cindy. Diana is the oldest. She is a former school teacher and now, besides singing, is dedicated to serving the Lord in various activities including the roles of woman and housewife. She and her husband, Terry, live in South Bend, Indiana. The twins, Debby and Cindy also live in South Bend with their parents. Although both are still in high school, they are actively involved in serving the Lord with their music and personal testimonies. All three girls have come to Jesus by way of the Cross in the past four years. WHAT: What do they sound like is a question I am often asked when arranging for them to sing at various churches, and auditoriums in the Northern Indiana area. At first, many people, including me, think they sound a lot like the "Peterson Trio." This is probably because they sing many of John W. Peterson’s songs and just like that trio, they are all sisters. I think, though, you will notice that they have a quality all their own. Diana sings soprano, Debby 2nd soprano and Cindy sings alto. The combination of their voices is a beautiful, soft, melodic sound I know you’re going to enjoy. WHEN: Sometimes it is just as interesting to know where someone accepts Christ as when. Diana first accepted Jesus through the efforts of the Campus Crusade for Christ movement at Western Michigan University. After sharing the Good News with her two sisters, they too decided to follow the way of the Saviour one year later at a Billy Graham Crusade in Chicago. TESTIMONY: Here is the Righter Sisters’ testimony just as they wrote it . . . "The world is engaged in anxiety concerning wars, poverty, pollution, and prejudice. Individuals are searching for meaning, sanity and sense in a fast moving complexed and confusing age. We all believe that Jesus Christ is the only way one can find peace in a warring world, meaning while being surrounded by apathy, and love where there is hate. We are three sisters who have all come to know Jesus Christ personally within the past four years. We believe that God has called us to pass on the Good News through song and personal testimony.’’ It doesn’t matter whether you’re Presbyterian, Baptist, Full Gospel, Catholic, Methodist, or Undenominational, if you love Jesus you have something in common with the Righter Sisters, and I invite you to share in this common bond by listening to their first album.
