1976 Promo Only John Lennon Interview Beatles Beatles Documentary Earth News Radio Elliot Mintz Autographed
Earth News Radio was a special promo only subscription news service that was distributed as limited edition promotional record albums with commercials. Earth News Radio was popular with US Radio Stations in the 1970s and 1980s. Each disk that was mailed to a subscribing radio station on a weekly basis would have six or more five minute radio programs on each side of the disk. Each banded five minute radio show would have stop grooves at the end of each show to prevent the dee jay from accidentally letting the needle run into the show of the next day.
This rare disk pressed for radio stations only in 1976 represents the first airing of a week long Earth News radio documentary series on the Beatles which featured John Lennon and to a lesser extent Yoko Ono being interviewed by Elliott Mintz who at that time was a popular and prominent radio personality as well as a represenative and friend of John and Yoko Lennon.
This special copy of the January 26, 1976 Earth News Radio disc was obviously owned by Elliott Mintz and has Mintz's autograph on the label as well as a special hand written message written on the paper sleeve to someone named Erica. The message reads "For Erica - for you to share some single soft moments with two of my friends. From J & Y (John and Yoko) Elliott. Love and B + B 1/29/1976.
Earth News radio disks did not have hard outer covers. The description sheet for the disk is not present. Since Mintz was part of the production team for Earth News Radio, he may have gotten and given away this disk before the data sheets were produced.
