Description
This is where it all began....back in November of 1960. The 1st acetate pressing of HI..WE'RE THE MIRACLES. How significant is this as a record? It was the first record to define the new Motown sound. It was the first production of Berry Gordy's new Tamla label--not even yet named, as it is noted as Berry Gordy, Entertainment on the LP. The lp was not yet named, and as you can see, the working title of the 5th track was in the midest of being changed from I WON'T TAKE YOU BACK to WON'T YOU TAKE ME BACK! The record itself is not in very good shape--it plays, but I don't want to play it much. There are no deep gouges, but again, I can not grade it accurately. I think the fact that it exists, and what it stands for is where the value is. What is even more amazing is that this was pulled from a building at Motown back in the 60's afte a fire went thru it-so I doubt there is another copy of it anywhere. It might have alternate lyrics or changes to it on the acetate--this was pressed right after the recording session, and the lp was not released for another 6 months-in mid 1961. A historic recording to say the least.
