2) THREE COOL CATS/CHARLIE BROWN (by THE COASTERS) (Atco #6132 1st pressing, 1959): VG/VG+ 45.
The Beatles' Deccagone singles are 44 years out-of-issue & increasing in value. Here's a CLEAN M- GREEN VINYL 45 & PICTURE SLEEVE. Sounds great on your turntable, jukebox...or put it in The Vault!
We're adding the original 1959 Coasters 45 of the tune; Three Cool Cats was the flip side of their #2 hit Charlie Brown. This Atco 1st pressing plays VG+ with a small spot of white-out on one label.
The green vinyl Beatles single is from their January 1, 1962 Decca audition, which The Boys failed because they were 4 leather-jacketed, smartass scousers. The lab-coated straights in the control booth considered them unprofessional jerks playing cheap beat-up instruments. So Decca signed polite Londoners Brian Poole & The Tremeloes instead. Remember them? Nobody else does either, except as a Beatles footnote.
Fact is, the Liverpudlian Lads were very fortunate to get signed by George Martin later in '62; he said he had "nothing to lose". Martin actually liked their cheeky impudence, undoubtedly because his Parlophone career had been spent recording zany comedy acts like The Goons.
Next time you hear the famous "groups of guitars are out" quote, consider that on New Year's Day 1962, the English recording establishment couldn't tolerate The Beatles.
One only...don't miss it!
