I recently had the pleasure of attending a sale in a high-rise condo on Miami Beach, the estate of a woman who loved Classical music (with special emphasis on piano and violin). She had a $100K stereo system, and as you might expect, she also had some great audiophile recordings to go with it. I bought dozens of CD & LP albums that I will be listing here as time permits.(Most of the CDs have been sold, now I will concentrate on some LPs.)
THIS lot includes 2 different Audiofon Audiophile Pressing vinyl LP record albums by DAVID BAR-ILLAN:
AUDIOFON #2002 (co.1981):
Carl Maria von WEBER: Piano Sonata N. 2 in A-Flat, Opus 39
Franz LISZT: Ballade No. 2 in B-minor (1853)
                        "En Reve", Nocturne (1885)
                        Mephisto Waltz No. 1 (1860)
The sleeve of the above LP is HAND SIGNED by the pianist with the following inscription:
"To Jerry Neson & Minette with thanks for serving as an audience, and with best wishes. -
David Bar-Illan
????????  Sep 82"
I presume his reference to "serving as an audience" indicates that this couple were present when this recording was made. The goal of AUDIOFON in their recordings was to capture the atmosphere of a live performance, and to that end, they were in the habit of recording in a hall or theater, with an invited audience in order to bring out the "magic" of the musician actually "performing" for the people hearing him play live.
AUDIOFON #2013 (co.1983):
Ludwig von BEETHOVEN: 15 Variations in E flat, Opus 35 ("Eroica" Variations)
 RAMEAU: Gavotte and Six Doubles
SOLER: Sonata No. 1 in D Minor
SOLER: Sonata No. 4 in D Minor
MOZART: Rondo in A Minor, K.511
Her sound system included a nice discwasher, and this lady obviously took great care of her vinyl.
