SETTLE IN FOR A LONG RUN OF COLLECTABLE LPs OF VARIOUS MUSICAL STYLES!! This is a reasonably priced lot consisting of ONE 1967 U.S. STEREO FIRST PRESSING WITH PEELABLE BANANA AND TORSO & FACE BACK COVER, AND ONE LATE 1960s STEREO PRESSING WITH NON-PEELABLE BANANA OF THE 1967 VERVE RECORDS debut LP titled 'The Velvet Underground & Nico' from pioneering New York City alternative art rockers The Velvet Underground. Both records are Verve Records catalog number V6-5008, gatefold cover, blue Verve Records labels. Please see my accompanying images of both front and back covers for appearance and back cover photo details. The Velvet Underground on this LP is: Nico-vocals / John Cale-electric viola, piano, bass guitar / Sterling Morrison-rhythm & bass guitars / Lou Reed-lead & ostrich guitar, vocals / Moe Tucker-drums. Tracks: Sunday Morning, I'm Waiting For The Man, Femme Fatale, Venus In Furs, Run Run Run, All Tomorrow's Parties, Heroin, There She Goes Again, I'll Be Your Mirror, The Black Angel's Death Song, European Son. The reason I am offering these two copies of this historic LP in one lot is because the record included with the first press LP with peelable cover is pretty much totally ruined and unplayable, I would not recommend even attempting to play it - The record included with the later press non-peelable cover is in real nice shape and is in great playing condition, you will be able to listen to the later press LP and keep the early press LP strictly as a collectable for the peelable cover. Technical condition of record included with the peelable cover is poor / filler, about as low as you can go. Condition of record included with the non-peelable cover is a real nice VG++ with a very few very small and light surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play. Condition of peelable banana cover is VG with the peelable banana missing its top stem, and with the banana having previously been peeled half off, torn in the middle, and reattached to the cover as can be seen in my accompanying image. Cover also has a 4" split in the top edge of the back gatefold (I have carefully and neatly repaired this split by taping from the inside), a good amount of contact and ring wear, and some wear along the edges and on the corners. Cover has no tears, other stickers, or writing. Condition of non-peelable banana cover is a high VG/low VG+ with the main flaw being some fraying near the top of the spine. Cover also has a plastic label with the name of a previous owner affixed to the back cover near the upper left corner, a cut upper left corner, indicating a promo or a cutout copy, some ring and contact wear, and some wear alobng the edges and on the corners. This lot would be a great way to add a historic and sought-after FIRST PRESSING of the first LP to your Velvet Underground or alternative music record collection!
