PRE LABEL 7 INCH ZONOPHONE DISC NO. I 9664 "A BERGULAR'S EXPERIENCE WITH AN OLD MAID" BY JOHN TERRELL WITH PIANO AND ZONOPHONE DISC NO.V9749 "SCHULTZ ON GEORGE WASHINGTON" BY FRANK KENNEDY "THE DUTCH PHILOSOPHER",BOTH C.. 1901. up for bid are two very rare pre label zonophone discs ,they both play very well but both have.... cracks .( i think the reason they survive that way is they both are so rare) number I9664 by is by mr. john terrell ( terrell only records from c. 1895 to c.1901 for berliner and zonophone ) and plays very well , good sound and funny but has a very tight crack that i don't hear tick ( maybe you will ? ) on it he sings with piano and according to the discography of american historical recordings was only pressed as a 9 inch disc, this is a 7 inch disc ! PLEASE CHECK PICTURES, it plays slower than 78 ( like maybe 75 rpm ? ) this was also one of the last records , c.1901. the next disc is zonophone no.V 9749 "schultz on george washington" by frank kennedy the dutch philosopher. Frank kennedy a very gifted comic records from c.1899 to c. 1904 then makes just a few till c. 1922. his records are always funny if you can find them and " on george washington " is one of the rarer ones to find , but once again has a crack that is a little more pronounced than the one by john terrell , PLEASE CHECK ALL PICTURES FOR SALE AS IS but plays clear enough for a 1901 disc, it also plays very slow ( like maybe 70 ? ) . these two 1901 zonophones are a must for anyone collecting 19th and early 20th century humor and a must for anyone who collects cylinders or discs by these to rare artists, good bidding to you. P.S. frank kennedy is number 3 in the photograph of the edison artists, there is only one known photo of john terrell and i don't have it.
