Description
You are bidding on 2 very rare one-sided Elvis Demo Singles that were released by RCA Records in 1958 as a Double "A" sided single - "All Shook Up" and "Heartbreak Hotel". The consumer single was released to coincide with the Xmas market and to restore two of Elvis’ biggest selling records which had been deleted from the HMV Label a few months earlier. These two titles had originally been released under separate singles on the HMV label 2 years earlier. The practice of issuing Double A sided records was virtually unheard of in the 50’s.
Both singles were pressed by Decca as "solid centres" and are printed on a bright green label. Both labels show the studio recording matrix numbers whilst the UK proposed catalogue number has been rubber stamped. Interestingly, the Matrix Number given for Heartbreak Hotel G2WW0218 relates to the recording of “I Was The One”, which was originally the “B” side of Heartbreak Hotel. Less than 75 copies were pressed and sent out to Radio Luxembourg / BBC Radio disc jockeys and reviewers for New Musical Express. The vinyl/sound quality on both is excellent considering these are over 48 years old. Just small DJ markings on labels for timings etc. Finding both sides together is extremely rare given the few pressed. If you collect Elvis demos, then these two rarities are a must for your collection.
