Two Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds related items. They are related in this way: they are both 7" vinyl recordings by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds! They are both on Mute Records! And a fun thing: there is about 10 years of time separating the two releases! It's fun to play them side-by-side & hear the differences.
So...
Up for auction we have two Nick Cave vinyl records. 
The first item is a limited edition collectible with some really good & one kinda bad point(s).
The second is another collectible with no bad points I can think of.

Sure, we could sell them separately, but you can probably find one or both on eBay, and putting a couple of records together makes the experience more interesting.  Winning one thing is fine and good, but winning a couple of things and getting a good deal?  Really cool.  I'm trying to make our auctions fun for the holidays.  Look at our other stuff, sit back, and I'll get you an egg nog. Or if you don't like nog, I'll just get you an egg.

This is a limited edition UK import 7". 
Here are the good/bad things:
GOOD THINGS-
1. It's an amazing silver glitter vinyl! Very glam rock!   (SEE THE PHOTOS)
2. There were only 1000 pressed!
3. It's supposed to be "individually numbered", but we got our copy as a promo item & THEREFORE it has no number!  Just a blank white square on the rear cover!   (SEE THE PHOTOS)
   4. One side plays at 33 1/3 rpm & the other at 45 rpm!
5. The b-side contains two NON-LP SONGS!
BAD THING-
1. The outer edge of the vinyl has a slight chip that happened when the record was originally mailed to us.  On the A-side it causes the song to skip a couple of times. (But that's not terrible. Here's why: The song on the A-SIDE is an edited version of a song that is available on the "Let Love In" album. You're not missing anything unheard or rare.)
    It doesn't seem to affect the two songs on the B-SIDE (This is good news! They are both NON-LP B-SIDES written by Nick Cave, filled with sweeping strings galore!)

(If this didn't have a small chip on the outer edge, it would be at least NM- or better.  It has never been owned, so the only wear it could have had is from someone pulling it out of its sleeve.  As I said above, the A-Side features a song that can be found easily on the "Let Love In" record, so the fact that it clicks and skips a couple of times isn't anything you'll be depressed about in the long run.  Because, as I keep saying, trying to be the glass-half-full guy, the two B-Side songs that aren't on the album are the ones you'd buy this for anyway!)

Nick Cave is a dark and depressing dreamboat who sucks ladies and gents into his frightening netherworld of deeply-felt and deeply-sung concept pieces.  With a lot of fans, a lot of friends, and a lot of artists who are only too happy to help him come recording time, he seems to get better with every release!  If you're missing anything, go back & get the whole catalog!


GRADING STANDARDS from GOLDMINE

VERY GOOD PLUS / EXCELLENT:
Most collectors, especially those who want to play their records, will be happy with a VG+ record,

VG+ records may show some slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Slight warps that don’t affect the sound are OK. Minor signs of handling are OK, too, such as telltale marks around the center hole, so long as repeated playing has not misshapen the hole. There may be some very light ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable.

VG+ Covers should have only minor wear. A VG+ cover might have some very minor seam wear or a split (less than one inch long) at the bottom, the most vulnerable locataion.

VERY GOOD:
Many of the imperfections found on a VG+ Record are more obvious on a VG record. That said, VG records — which usually sell for no more than 25 percent of a an NM record — are among the biggest bargains in record collecting, because moost of the “big money” goes for more perfect copies. For many listeners, a VG record or sleeve will be worth the money.

VG records have more obvious flaws than their counterparts in better shape. They lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail.

When played, a VG record has surface noise, and some scratches may be audible, especially in soft passages and during a song’s intro and ending. But the noise won’t overpower the music otherwise. Minor writing, tape or a sticker can detract from the label. Many collectors who have jukeboxes will use VG records in them and not think twice. They remain a fine listening experience, just not the same as if it were in better shape.

VG covers will have many signs on human handling. Ring wear in the middle or along the edges of the cover, where the edge of a record would reside, is obvious; it may appear on all three sides, thought it won’t be obvious upon looking. Someone might have written on it or stamped a price tag on it, too.

GOOD/VERY GOOD MINUS:
Good does not mean bad! The record still plays through without skipping, so it can serve as filler until something better comes along. But it has significant surface noicse and groove wear. The label is worn and exhibits significant ring wear, heavy writing or obvious damage caused by tring to remove tape or stickers and failing miserably.



We are collectors and we want you to get your collectibles in the best condition possible, therefore, unlike many sellers on the great eBay
 WE NEVER REMOVE VINYL FROM ITS SLEEVE AND LEAN IT AGAINST ANYTHING
nor do we
REMOVE THE VINYL RECORDS FROM THEIR SLEEVES & LAY THEM DOWN ON A SURFACE TO DISPLAY THEM.
We're rather amazed when we take the care that we do with the vinyl we sell, and then see another seller make more money selling the exact same item
in worse shape, and their picture shows the record out of its cover and out of its sleeve lying on a surface!  I believe the "problem" is that we try to describe every item
in detail so that you'll know exactly what you're getting.  Many sellers will simply say "excellent" "mint" or "great", having no idea what those terms mean in relation to the Goldmine Grading System.  We tell you exactly what you're getting, and even if it's been to hell and back, we still treat it like it's a piece of your mother.  Sometimes it's the detail that screws things up, I think.  If we were vague, like most sellers, you'd just see the name of the band, the title, and a picture, and you'd buy it.  Oh well.

Many sellers seem to have a disregard for the items they're selling and only care about making their pictures look pretty.  We only care about the pieces we sell.  And you.  So you'll see that the records are displayed IN THEIR ORIGINAL SLEEVES, with just a hint of the vinyl showing so that you can see what color they are.  If you want to see the vinyl pulled from its sleeve and resting on a dusty surface, look at someone else's auction or blog and then come back to our page and buy our copy in PERFECT SHAPE.
