Description

This auction is for two RCA Victor King Oliver 78s, as pictured:   1.  V-38137,  King Oliver and his Orchestra, "Rhythm Club Stomp" and "Edna."   2.  V-38134,  King Oliver and his Connie Inn Orchestra, "Boogie Woogie" and "Mule Face Blues."   They are both in RCA Victor paper sleeves.   Condition:   1.  V-38137:  This one has a crack that I have shown in one picture.  It starts at the outside and goes in radially about two thirs of the distance to the center hole.  There are several other smaller cracks radiating from the main one.  The spot on the crack that is visible in the picture is not a hole, gouge or missing piece;  it's just some sort of stain.  The grooves at the crack on both sides of the disc are intact, so I think this one will play fine despite the crack.  Other that the crack, the condition of this one is about the same as #2 described below.   2.  V-38134:  This disc does not have any breaks, cracks, delaminations, deep gouges, chipped edges or label damage.  It does show some light scratches that would be expected from being lightly used but not abused.    I have put up a picture of it to try to give an idea of its condition.  It has no scratches prominent enough that I thought I would be able to show in a picture, which gives some idea of how good the condition of these is.   I am not familiar with standard record condition grading systems, so I have just described the condition of these records as I see it.  I am not a record dealer or a record collector.  I am disposing of a small collection of about a dozen 78s that I found when cleaning out my parents' house.  Some of the other records are more desirable than these, I think, including some by Jelly Roll Morton.  I will be selling the others in the near future.   I know that these records are fragile.  I welcome suggestions for packing them safely for shipping.
