LABEL: 2 Vocalion monthly fold out supplements from 1937 featuring Robert Johnson new releases.
CONDITION: 2" edge tear on opening fold of 2/37; tiny corner chip, a few small tears along edges and 1" tear on opening fold on 7/37. Paper is brittle on 7/37 catalog.
DESCRIPTION:
February 1937 monthly fold out supplement listing Robert Johnson's first record -- Vocalion 03416 (Kind Hearted Woman / Terraplane Blues) -- in new release section. The release date was actually January 10, 1937, but it would not be surprising if it did not appear in print until the February supplement. Confirming this, Vocalion 03445 released in February was not announced as a new release in this February supplement, but did appear in the March supplement. Printed on back cover in lower left corner: "2-37".
July 1937 monthly fold out supplement with Vocalion 03601 (Sweet Home Chicago / Walkin' Blues) appearing in the new release section. Red Allen photo on cover. This Johnson 78 released July 10, 1937 does appear in the July supplement. Printed on back cover in lower left corner: "7-37 ERM".
